There are over 30,000 different species of spiders known worldwide, with approximately 700 species found in Australia. The jumping spider, huntsman spider, wolf spider, red-back spider, and golden orb weaver spider are among the most common spiders we encounter.
Spiders typically prefer to live in dark, dry environments. Underneath roof gutters, inside window frames, under fence capping, and inside roof voids are examples of such places. Pool fences and gates, clothes lines, bins, letter boxes, under pergolas, and other common home and webbing areas are also common.
Non-chemical spider control methods include dusting and vacuuming to remove spider webs and eggs and keeping the household and surroundings clean to discourage insect infestation. Non-toxic residual aerosols should be used for a longer period of time to completely eliminate spiders.
